My Dear Brother Joe and Concerned Christian Citizens:
"Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord."
I rejoice with you on the birth and official commencement of your new outreach ministry.
The birthing of both children and ministries was God's idea from the beginning; and if He scheduled all the days of David's life before they "came to be," has He not scheduled the days appointed for Concerned Christian Citizens?
I am confident He has, and the duty before you is to nourish the good work God has begun through you. "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Value your calling, for your concerns are precious to God. May your hearts be utterly broken for His sake, that your Salt and Light may penetrate deeply, near and far, as you Stand boldly against the grave evils now institutionalized throughout our republic.
Of brokenness, World Vision founder Bob Pierce wrote: “Let my heart be broken with the things that break God's heart.” Oh Lord, may it so be for Concerned Christian Citizens. In your correspondence, you list the most grievous breakers of our Lord's heart. You cite legal child killing, the defamation of holy marriage, the loss of truth, righteousness, justice, mercy, and our loss of freedom to live Christ openly and joyfully. Thus God's battle call, and for the restorative work He has scheduled for Concerned Christian Citizens, may you freely accept and utilize His provision of wisdom, courage, and sacrificial resolve, whatever the cost.
Jesus spoke to the Twelve about that cost. Said He: "I send you forth as sheep into the midst of wolves. …do not be afraid." Of such duty, R. Arthur Matthews wrote into his profound little book Born for Battle: "The history of the saints in every age is one of conflict. The pathway the disciple treads as he follows His Lord is one of certain warfare… We should beware of activities that do not bring us to grips with the enemy. " Of victory or defeat, Matthews reminded us that “We are as victorious as we want to be....Each man has his own measuring cup.” May the cups of Concerned Christian Citizens equal or exceed the strategic gap God has called you to fill and occupy.
I therefore encourage you to plough deeply ("plough up") the malicious ground thus far left fallow or shallowly tilled amidst the prevailing public apathy and church passivity in our day. Expose the deep-rooted injustices that break God's heart, for similarly rooted was Goliath's intractable will until young David arrived with two simple weapons that a fearful and subdued Israelite army foolishly discounted. I speak of David's devout hatred of evil and of his abounding faith in God's faithfulness to those willing to sacrifice for righteousness sake.
May the members of Concerned Christian Citizens hate evil and trust God as young David did. May you know both the invaluable use and the God-ordained limits of prayer. Indeed we must pray, but has not God commanded us also to feed, to clothe, to shelter, and to rescue those in urgent need? And regarding the Church's own urgent need for repentance and revival, please underscore the pivotal terms of 2 Chronicles 7:14 and acclaim John the Baptist's call for affirmed confessions, affirmed by producing fruit "in keeping with repentance."
My fellow Christian warriors, I am privileged to know and to commend your commitment to serving the causes that so fully impact God's heart. May your devotion inspire many reluctant defenders of truth, life, justice, and mercy to assume their battle stations and to persevere until the horrendous, holocaustic powers in our midst collapse before an obedient and triumphant Church.
I love you in Christ and intend to join you in Spirit during your commencement service, this March 25, 2016.
May His precious spirit rest on you day by day,
